Kinetic Facade

What is a kinetic façade?

A kinetic façade uses wind-responsive moving louvers or panels that shift with the breeze, turning the building skin into a living surface of changing light and shadow. INDECO's system is passive — driven by wind, not motors — so it animates the elevation with zero energy consumption.

How does a kinetic façade move without electricity?

INDECO kinetic louvers are passively actuated by wind. Once the breeze reaches a low activation threshold (under 2 mph / about 0.9 m/s), the fins begin to rotate and return to their resting position when the wind drops. No motors, sensors or power supply are required.

What wind speed activates the kinetic louvers?

The system begins responding at very low wind speeds — under 2 mph (about 0.9 m/s) — and continues across the normal range of site winds. The passive mechanism is engineered for long-term outdoor service and high system reliability.

Do kinetic facades save energy?

Yes. As the louvers move with the sun, they cut solar gain on the façade and lower cooling loads in hot climates. Independent references suggest shading-driven solutions can reduce cooling demand by 20–40%, depending on orientation and climate.

What are INDECO kinetic louvers made from?

The fins are extruded from marine-grade aluminium alloy (6063-T5) and finished with anodising or PVDF fluorocarbon coating for long-term colour and corrosion resistance. All pivots and fixings use stainless or treated hardware suited to outdoor exposure.

Are kinetic facades durable in coastal and desert climates?

Yes. The aluminium and coatings are selected for salt-spray, UV and thermal-cycling resistance, making the system suitable for coastal cities such as Dubai and Doha as well as high-humidity sites. The design life is 25+ years with minimal maintenance.

Can kinetic louvers be combined with fixed shading or a BMS?

The system is fully passive, so it needs no controls, sensors or BMS integration. It is often paired with fixed architectural shading, or used alongside motorised systems where active control is also wanted — the passive layer keeps working even if powered systems fail.

Are kinetic facades suitable for high-rise towers?

Yes. The lightweight aluminium fins are engineered for the wind loads of tall buildings and have been specified for towers in Nairobi (design wind ~26.9 m/s) and Doha (up to 45 m/s). What does the kinetic facade design and delivery process look like?

We start with the architect's elevation and climate data, run wind-load and FEA studies, build a prototype for sign-off, then fabricate and pack the modules for container shipment. Full shop drawings and installation guidance are supplied.

How much does a kinetic facade cost?

Pricing depends on façade area, louver density, finish and project location. INDECO works on a per-square-metre basis and provides a fixed quotation after the design is confirmed — contact us with your elevation and we will scope it.

Unitised Glazing

What is a unitised curtain wall?

A unitised curtain wall is a glazed façade built from large modules assembled and sealed in the factory, then craned into place on site. Because the weather-tight unit is completed off-site, quality control is higher and on-site installation is faster than stick-built systems.

How much wind and water can unitised glazing withstand?

INDECO unitised glazing is tested for structural wind load, water penetration, air leakage and cyclic movement. In the Waterfront Commercial Tower (Dubai) specification, the system was engineered for peak structural wind pressure up to 4.5 kPa (ASTM E330 / ASCE 7-22) and water tightness at 750 Pa with no leakage (ASTM E331). What is the insulated glass (IGU) configuration?

A typical INDECO unit pairs a Low-E tempered outer pane, a warm-edge argon-filled cavity and an inner lite — for example 6 mm Low-E + 12 mm argon + 6 mm (6+12A+6). The Dubai specification used 8 mm Low-E + 16 mm argon + 12 mm laminated for higher security and acoustics.

Is unitised glazing energy efficient?

Yes. Low-E coatings and argon-filled cavities keep solar heat gain low (SHGC ≤ 0.22) while letting in daylight (visible transmittance ≥ 40%), with U-values around 1.4 W/m²·K — reducing both cooling and lighting loads.

How is unitised glazing different from a stick-built curtain wall?

In a unitised system the entire module — frame, glass and seals — is assembled and tested in the factory, then hoisted into place. Stick-built systems are assembled piece by piece on site. Unitised delivery is faster to install and offers higher, more consistent quality control.

What acoustic performance can the glazing achieve?

With laminated inner lites the system reaches STC 42 in the Waterfront Commercial Tower (Dubai) specification, cutting outside traffic and façade noise. Higher ratings are available using thicker acoustic interlayers.

How is the glazing protected against corrosion in marine environments?

Frames use marine-grade aluminium with anodised or PVDF finishes, stainless fixings and tropicalised gaskets. This protects the system against salt, humidity and intense sun — important for Middle East and African coastal projects.

What panel sizes and glazing options are possible?

Modules reach up to 1.5 × 4.0 m per unit, with options for double-skin, low-E, solar-control and acoustic-laminated glass. The exact size is balanced against wind load, crane capacity and the building's grid.

What tests and certifications back the system?

Every project is verified for structural wind load (ASTM E330 / ASCE 7-22), water penetration (ASTM E331), air leakage and cyclic movement, plus EN permeability (A4) and watertightness (RE 1200). Four standard tests confirm façade integrity before delivery.

What is the typical delivery lead time?

Because units are factory-built, most projects move from approved drawings to container shipment in a predictable window; lead time depends on area, glass type and site programme. We confirm a schedule after the specification is frozen.

Aluminum Cladding

What is aluminum cladding used for?

Aluminum cladding and ceiling panels form the visible skin of a building — exterior façades, soffits, feature walls and interior ceilings. INDECO fabricates them to order in custom sizes, shapes and perforations, with finishes for both indoor and outdoor use.

Is aluminum cladding fire-safe and weather-resistant?

Yes. INDECO aluminum panels use non-combustible aluminum with weather-resistant, fire-safe and moisture-proof finishes, making them suitable for façades exposed to sun, rain and humidity. Coatings are selected for long-term colour and corrosion resistance.

What cladding and ceiling systems does INDECO supply?

Our range covers lay-in tile ceilings (exposed grid), clip-in tile ceilings (concealed), deep-type combination ceilings and composite honeycomb / mineral-wool panels — for façades, soffits, feature walls and interiors.

What finishes and colours are available?

Panels are finished in PVDF fluorocarbon, powder coat or anodised aluminium, with the full RAL range plus wood-grain and stone-effect transfers. Coastal projects use PVDF for the longest colour and gloss retention.

Can panels be custom-shaped and perforated?

Yes. INDECO fabricates to order in non-standard sizes, curved and 3D forms, and CNC perforation patterns for screens, branding and daylight control. Send us the elevation or pattern and we will engineer it.

What fire rating do the aluminum panels achieve?

How weather-resistant and corrosion-proof are they?

For Middle East and African coastal sites the aluminium is anodised or PVDF-coated and salt-spray tested, resisting sun, rain and humidity with minimal maintenance over a 25+ year design life.

Is aluminum cladding lightweight enough for retrofit?

At a fraction of the weight of stone or concrete, aluminium panels add little structural load, making them ideal for recladding, soffits and interior ceilings where weight matters.

How are the panels installed?

Ceiling systems use a suspension grid (lay-in or clip-in) for fast, tool-friendly assembly and easy access to services above. Façade panels fix to concealed rail or bracket systems supplied with the package.

What is the lead time and how customisable is the order?

Everything is made to order, including non-standard sizes and perforations. Lead time depends on finish, quantity and project location; we confirm a production schedule after the shop drawings are approved.
